2014 and newer Indian Chief Classic, Chief Vintage, Chieftain, Dark Horse, and Roadmaster models use a four-wire CAN-bus low-voltage computer controlled wiring system. Therefore, when wiring a trailer to these models, it is required to install the VCC007-50 CAN-bus module.
The steps below outline the components needed to wire a trailer hitch to the 2014-newer Indian models:
- The first component you will need is the VCC07-49 sub-harness.
- Next, you will need the VCC007-50 to convert the CAN-bus signal.
- All models require the use of the TWC004 Isolator/convertor.
Fitment: The VCC007-50 fits 2014-newer Chief Classic, Chief Vintage, Chieftain, Dark Horse, and Roadmaster models.

When wiring your motorcycle trailer using an isolator is required to prevent damage to your factory motorcycle wiring and RIVCO trailer wiring components. RIVCO designed the Twc004 universal isolator to be plug-n-play with RIVCO sub-harnesses and converters. The Twc004 has a 36” wire loom to reach your trailer hitch tongue and trailer plug.
Wiring the Twc004 is easy when you follow the included wiring diagrams and instructions. The small 3” x 1 ½” x 1” size of the Twc004 isolator and the adhesive backing make it easy to mount in an out-of-sight location like under the seat for example. The TWC004 is a universal isolator; meaning it works on any model that RIVCO manufactures a trailer hitch.

Some motorcycles use a five-wire wiring system for tail, brake, and turn signal lights. In a five-wire system, the brake and turn signal lights get signal from individual power wires devoted to each function. Some trailers us a four-wire system.
